CED Library - Frequently Asked Questions

College of Education Library

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

1.  I’m a freshman, how do I apply for a Library Card?

For freshmen and new students, bring these requirements to your respective satellite library:
a. 2 copies 1x1 ID Picture
b. Official Receipt of Payment upon enrolment

2. I lost my library card, what should I do?

For those who lost their Library Card, they are required to pay the Borrower’s Card Replacement Fee (Php 25.00) at the Cashier’s Office, Administration Building, MSU-IIT and they have to provide 1 copy 1x1 ID picture. A new borrower’s card will be issued one week after the report of loss.

3. How do I borrow books at the CED Library?

Some books may be borrowed for a certain period. To borrow books, MSU-IIT constituents are required to bring their Borrower’s Card and present it to the Library Staff.

4. I forgot to return the book on time, what should I do?

Return the book to the library as soon as possible to avoid accruing of overdue fines. Overdue Fines are imposed if a borrower fails to return the materials as follows:

·   Circulation Books:   A fine of P5.00 per day is imposed for every overdue book for the first   three   days   and   P10.00 per day thereafter.
·  Reserve Books: An initial fine of P5.00 is charged for the first hour of overdue books thereafter, P1.00 each hour, or a maximum of P20.00 a day is imposed.
·  General Reference/Filipiniana resources in all satellite libraries are for room use only. If taken out without permit, or not returned on due time a fine of P100.00 an hour is imposed.

5. Am I allowed to use the computer inside the Research Network Area?

Each satellite library in MSU-IIT has its own Research Network Area for internet resources, eJournals and eBooks. In CED Library, each student is given an hour to use a computer because of the limited number of units. However, you may be given a time extension if there are no users waiting for a vacant unit.

6. I still have my Borrower’s Card but it got damaged because it is too old and got all wet, can I get it replaced with a newer one?

Yes, you may have your old borrower’s card replaced with a new one. Old and damaged borrower’s card can be replaced free of charge if the old one is surrendered to the library staff. However, if the old/damaged borrower’s card is not being surrendered, it will be considered lost and a replacement fee will have to be paid by the user.
