Will There Be A Change in the Library Policies Soon?

The Institute Library of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology is yet to embrace a change of its Library Management Software.

Last June, the Institute Library staff joined a seminar/training for Follett Destiny Library Software. The new software will replace MAELISA, the existing library software, soon. Follett Destiny Library Manager is an easy-to-use, web-based library automation and management solution. It combines circulation, cataloging, searching, reporting and management in one centrally installed library software. Students, faculty and staff can access the system through any workstation with a supported web browser. It also has apps for android and iOS phones thus library patrons can access the system anywhere they are (*internet connection is required).

The new library system will make use of the barcode of the institute identification cards instead of the old borrower’s card. This revision of procedures will require further analysis because it may come in conflict with the old library policies.

The new library management software, however, will still be under observation as it needs to work jointly with the institute’s online service.

It may take some time for the whole new library management software to be working fully and flawlessly but it will be a great improvement to the whole library system and experience not only to the library staff but to all library patrons.

(Stellarium.org) Meanwhile, just focus on the enrollment for now as we are still in the process of installing these software in t...
