CED Library: Star Wars From Concept To Screen To Collectible

Do you know that we have a Star Wars Book in our library? Star Wars Book, we have...  The book is in CED Library's Circulation Section (791.4375 Sa 58 1992). It was a film to top all others. Audiences around the world gasped in delight as they watched alien creatures cavorting in a bar, entire planets exploding, and futuristic space ships rocketing through galaxies at a time. George Lucas had launched a new era in film making, combining a vivid imagination with state-of-the-art technology. Star Wars and its sequels, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi, pitted traditional forces of good against evil in an exciting futuristic context. People had so much fun at the movies that they demanded toys, T-shirts, and just about anything else related to the saga. Today, collecting Star Wars memorabilia has become one of the hottest hobbies around. CED Lib Solutions: Online File Storage (Dropbox)

Using a physical storage media for storing your important files can sometimes be a hassle. Sometimes, a small USB flash drive gets lost in your bag just when you needed it the most. Or worst, your files get corrupted especially when you insert them in unsecured computers. Sending files through social media can also be a hassle especially if you are looking for a file you have uploaded a few months ago and got buried under an unlimited scrolls of chat messages. The answer? Online Storage! One of the trusted online storage available for free is Dropbox. It works just like a normal folder in your personal computer but it automatically uploads your files once you save them.  Register to Dropbox now by clicking the image on the right. You can also access your files anytime, anywhere!. You can install Dropbox in your smartphone 

CED Lib: Microsoft Office Online Solution

Taken from OpenOffice Website College of Education Library has a limited number of computers that has Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) installed in it. Most of the students are using MS Office for their reports, presentations, lesson plans and other school projects. Most computers in the Research Network Area (Multimedia Services Section) in the CED Library are installed with Apache Open Office which is a free software as opposed to Microsoft Office.  Microsoft Office Prices Good news! You can create any Microsoft Office Documents ONLINE!  First, you have to register for a new account to start using MS Office Online! Just visit: http://www.office.com You can also save your new documents in your PC. However, if you have already created a powerpoint presentation and you want to open it online, you need to save it first online using Microsoft OneDrive: https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-ph/

CED Lib: Research Network Area

We are currently cleaning the Research Network Area (Multimedia Services Section) of the CED Library.  Some computers are not available for use. 

CED Library: Regular Service Hours

Starting this Monday, December 14, 2015, the College of Education Library will resume its regular service hours.  Regular service hours: 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday only. Don't forget to return the borrowed books before the CED Lib closes to avoid overdue fines! Don't forget to ask the library staff for more information about the date due of the books.

Leave the Books on the Shelves/Tables

Students are requested to leave the books on the shelves Students are encouraged to leave the books on the table or on the shelves. This way, the library staff will be able to arrange the books easier and avoid confusion among other library patrons. Books are arranged according to their call numbers which make them easier to find. If the books are not returned to their respective shelves, other library patrons will have a hard time looking for the book. CED Library: Dewey Decimal Classification

Books in the College of Education Library are arranged based on the Dewey Decimal Classification or Dewey Decimal System.  Source: http://overflowingbookshelves.blogspot.com/ The Dewey Decimal  Classification (DDC), or Dewey Decimal System, is a proprietary library classificationsystem first published in the United States by Melvil Dewey in 1876. (wiki) Books inside the CED Library are easier to find using the call numbers that are found on the side of the book as well as the upper left corner of the front cover. CED Books Call Number Examples The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) provides the location and the call number of a book. For more information about how to use the Online Public Access Catalog, don't hesitate to ask your library staff.

Essay Writing Contest in English and Filipino

There will be an Essay Writing Contest at the College of Education (CED) Library from 2:00 PM onwards. It is an annual contest held by the Association  of Student Educators in Science and Mathematics (ASESMA) to showcase the talents of students in Literature. The contest will be held at the Reading Area of the CED Library. Non-participating students are encouraged to minimize the voices while inside the library.

Re: Policies on Bringing Items Inside the Library Sections

For security purposes, no bags and other books are allowed inside the College of Education (CED) Library's sections. Students are only allowed to bring paper, pen, pencil and notebook. Students are requested to leave their bags in the shelf provided near the library's entrance or on the tables of the reading area. However, students should bring their valuables with them (wallet, phones, money, etc) and keep an eye on their belongings from time to time to avoid theft. Laptops and tablets can also be brought inside the library sections but laptop bags are to be left outside the library sections.
