CED Library Book: The Godfather

Taken from: https://thenomadbites.wordpress.com I bet almost all of you are able to dine in Pizzarella. Have you noticed a big painting on one of their walls inside their restaurant? Online Library Stat

Great news for library patrons! Library Statistics for Library Users is now ONLINE! Online Library Stat You don’t have to write your name and ID number on the paper provided near the entrance of the library. You just need to type in your ID Number. For more information, visit College of Education Library today!

A Short and Friendly Reminder

It’s the start of the second semester (2015-16) and we are reminding all the students are required to have their Borrower’s Card validated before they can avail of our library services. Yes, there have been cases that their teachers borrow the book for their students but do you think that is a bit of a hassle for the teacher? Plus, having the book on their account means they are liable for anything that would happen to the book (e.g. damages and loss). It’s a good thing that your teacher thinks of your future but thinking about them is greater. There is only one requirement for Borrower’s Card Validation, your validated school ID. It’s that easy! Have a great semester!

What Happens When You Don't Shutdown Your Computers Properly?

taken from: http://www.datarecovery.net/i/misc/harddrive.gif When a computer is running, the hard disk rotates its platter thousands times in a minute, the read/write head moves forwards and backwards all the time, your operating system opens many files for reading and writing. When you turn off the computer using the shutdown option in your operating system, it closes all the files that it is using and ends its access to them and to your system’s registry. And, the hard disk, positions its actuator arm at one side of the disk. These are some cases wherein most computers are not shut down properly: When power outage occurs (intentional or not) When computer does not respond for several minutes even after using ctrl + alt + del When a user holds down the power button for several seconds (intentional or not) And, when we are just too lazy to turn off the computer normally and wait for it to shut down on its own. What happens then if your computer is not shut

Software Installation in Progress

Happy new year, faculty, staff and students! How was your first week of the year? How's your enrollment going? College of Education Library is currently installing some software in the computers at the Research Network Area for the patrons to use. Hurrah!! AT LAST! Each computer unit will be installed with Microsoft Office Software as requested by most students for their projects, presentations and documents. Now that's one less hassle for library patrons! Astronomy fans! We also are also installing and testing Stellarium in each PC. Now you can do your stargazing even in broad daylight! Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go. (Stellarium.org) Meanwhile, just focus on the enrollment for now as we are still in the process of installing these software in t
