Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)


1.  I’m a freshman, how do I apply for a Library Card?

For freshmen and new students, bring these requirements to your respective satellite library:
a. 2 copies 1x1 ID Picture
b. Official Receipt of Payment upon enrolment

2. I lost my library card, what should I do?

For those who lost their Library Card, they are required to pay the Borrower’s Card Replacement Fee (Php 25.00) at the Cashier’s Office, Administration Building, MSU-IIT and they have to provide 1 copy 1x1 ID picture. A new borrower’s card will be issued one week after the report of loss.

3. How do I borrow books at the CED Library?

Some books may be borrowed for a certain period. To borrow books, MSU-IIT constituents are required to bring their Borrower’s Card and present it to the Library Staff.

4. I forgot to return the book on time, what should I do?

Return the book to the library as soon as possible to avoid accruing of overdue fines. Overdue Fines are imposed if a borrower fails to return the materials as follows:

·   Circulation Books:   A fine of P5.00 per day is imposed for every overdue book for the first   three   days   and   P10.00 per day thereafter.
·  Reserve Books: An initial fine of P5.00 is charged for the first hour of overdue books thereafter, P1.00 each hour, or a maximum of P20.00 a day is imposed.
·  General Reference/Filipiniana resources in all satellite libraries are for room use only. If taken out without permit, or not returned on due time a fine of P100.00 an hour is imposed.

5. Am I allowed to use the computer inside the Research Network Area?

Each satellite library in MSU-IIT has its own Research Network Area for internet resources, eJournals and eBooks. In CED Library, each student is given an hour to use a computer because of the limited number of units. However, you may be given a time extension if there are no users waiting for a vacant unit.

6. I still have my Borrower’s Card but it got damaged because it is too old and got all wet, can I get it replaced with a newer one?

Yes, you may have your old borrower’s card replaced with a new one. Old and damaged borrower’s card can be replaced free of charge if the old one is surrendered to the library staff. However, if the old/damaged borrower’s card is not being surrendered, it will be considered lost and a replacement fee will have to be paid by the user.

First semester for school year 2016 – 2017 is fast approaching! There will be changes on the Library service hours during the start of classes. All satellite libraries of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology will be opened on Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM; and 8:00 AM until 12:00 NN on Saturday. This change of library service schedule will take effect on upon further notice. The College of Education Library is undergoing some relevant repairs and maintenance to improve its services to its patrons. As of July 25, 2016, some busted fluorescent lights are being replaced with newer bulbs. The air conditioning units are being inspected and maintained for its optimum operation this coming school year. And, the staff lounge division will be replaced by termite-proof partition anytime this month or the first week of August depending on the availability of the contractor. An annual library materials inventory is currently going on. B

Hands On User Training of Online Database

Announcement: The MSU-IIT Institute Library in cooperation with the  Department of Extension  for the  celebration of  Panagtagbo 2018 ,  the staff of Institute Library, MSU-IIT will be having a "Hands-on User Training of Online Database" on February 20, 2018 at MiCel, 2nd floor, IDS Building. There will be representatives from Emerald Publishing and CE Logic who will present their database: Emerald Insight and Access Engineering. These databases will be added to our e-Libraries and databases.
